How to Transfer a Domain to Unisolva
If your domain is currently registered with another provider (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.) you can transfer it to Unisolva for centralised management alongside your hosting and email services. Transferring a domain also adds one year to the registration period at no extra cost.
Before You Transfer - Checklist
- The domain must be more than 60 days old and must not have been transferred in the last 60 days
- The domain must not be expired - renew it first if it is close to expiry
- Ensure the domain is unlocked at your current registrar (the EPP/transfer lock must be disabled)
- Obtain the EPP Auth Code (also called Transfer Auth Code or Authorization Code) from your current registrar
- Make sure the WHOIS contact email address is accessible - a verification email will be sent there
Step 1 - Unlock Your Domain at the Current Registrar
- Log in to your current registrar's control panel
- Find the domain you want to transfer
- Look for a Domain Lock, Transfer Lock, or Registrar Lock setting and disable it
- Wait a few minutes for the unlock to take effect
Step 2 - Get the EPP Auth Code
- While still in your current registrar's control panel, find the option to Request EPP Code, Get Auth Code, or Transfer Authorization Code
- The code will be emailed to the registrant contact email address, or displayed on screen
- Copy the code - you will need it in Step 4
|
???? Note The EPP Auth Code is a unique security code that authorises the transfer. It is typically 6–16 characters and is case-sensitive. Copy it exactly as shown. |
Step 3 - Disable WHOIS Privacy (Temporarily)
If your domain has WHOIS privacy protection enabled, the verification email for the transfer is sent to the masked address and may not reach you. Temporarily disable WHOIS privacy at your current registrar before initiating the transfer, then re-enable it at Unisolva after the transfer is complete.
Step 4 - Initiate the Transfer at Unisolva
- Log in to my.unisolva.com
- Click Domains in the top navigation, then select Transfer Domains to Us
- Enter your domain name and click Check
- Confirm the domain is eligible for transfer
- Enter the EPP Auth Code you obtained in Step 2
- Review the transfer cost and the additional year added to your registration
- Complete checkout
Step 5 - Approve the Transfer
- Check the email address associated with the domain's WHOIS registration - you will receive a transfer approval email from the registry or your current registrar
- Click the approval link in the email to authorise the transfer
- Some registrars approve transfers automatically after 5 days if no action is taken - check your registrar's policy
How Long Does a Transfer Take?
- Most domain transfers complete within 5–7 days after the approval email is confirmed
- Some registrars process transfers faster (within 24 hours) if auto-approval is in place
- You can monitor the transfer status in my.unisolva.com > Domains > My Domains
|
???? Tip Your website and email continue working during the transfer - DNS records are preserved. The transfer only moves registration management, not DNS hosting. There is no downtime associated with a domain transfer. |
After the Transfer
- Your domain appears in my.unisolva.com > Domains > My Domains
- The registration period is extended by one year from the current expiry date
- You can now manage DNS, nameservers, renewal, and WHOIS directly from the Unisolva portal
- Re-enable WHOIS privacy if you disabled it in Step 3
