Restoring After a Failed Migration

  1. Stop making changes:

    1. Don’t keep migrating while data is inconsistent.

  2. Decide your rollback target:

    1. The last known good backup date (pre-migration).

  3. Confirm DNS status:

    1. Determine whether the domain is pointing to the new host or the old host.

  4. Take a safety backup of the current state (recommended):

    1. Files + database export.

  5. Request a restore:

    1. Open a Technical Support ticket.

    2. Provide restore date, service name, and explain migration steps taken.

  6. After restore:

    1. Validate site/admin functionality.

    2. Recheck DNS settings and wait for propagation if changes were made.

  7. Only retry migration with a plan:

    1. Do it in a staging environment if possible.

    2. Migrate in small steps and validate at each step.
